McDonnell Calls for Citizen Input in Regulatory Reform Effort
--Citizens Encouraged to Email Task Force, Attend Meetings—
Email Address for Comments: regreform@oag.state.va.us
RICHMOND – With the first meeting of his Government and Regulatory Reform Task Force scheduled for a week from today, Attorney General Bob McDonnell today called on citizen’s to let the group know their suggestions and proposals for decreasing the regulatory burden in the Commonwealth.
Attorney General McDonnell remarked, “We are embarking on an important, long-term effort to reduce burdensome regulations in Virginia, but to be successful we have got to hear from the people of the Commonwealth about what they see in their everyday lives. Excessive regulations are really just hidden taxes, driving up the cost of doing business in Virginia, and negatively impacting our citizens and our economy. I hope all Virginians who have solutions to suggest, or problems to note, will either email us or come to one of the Task Force meetings to speak directly about this important public policy issue. Citizen involvement is the key to successful government.”
Citizens who wish to become involved can do so easily by emailing the Task Force at a special email address set up just for this purpose. That email address is: regreform@oag.state.va.us. In addition, every Task Force meeting will have a specific period set aside solely for public comment. The first Task Force meeting will be held in Richmond on Wednesday October 4th in House Room D of the General Assembly Building. The event will run from 1-3p.m.
