Attorney General Statement on Passing of Judge H. Emory Widener, Jr.
Attorney General Bob McDonnell issued the following statement today regarding the passing of Judge H. Emory Widener, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
“Judge H. Emory Widener, Jr. represented the very best in the Virginia legal community. His 35 years of service on the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals found him involved in critical legal cases. He was a voice of reason, consistency and intelligence. Through his service on the bench, and his prior service in the United States Navy, his was a life built on duty and honor. As a person, and as a jurist, he will be missed by all those who knew him. Our prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.”
